This release marks the first in a series of ‘past patterns’: Tracks that were never released, but that I still want to put out there. They might mean something to somebody.

‘Past patterns’ not only refers to the tracks themselves, but also to the way they were created. When I open these projects, I come across many techniques that I still use, but there are also some techniques I somehow forgot about. More than once I’ve been suprised by the creativity, only to realize that I was actually the one who came up with it. Apparently, the way creativity flows belongs to a specific point in time, and is about much more than just the toolkit you have at your disposal. Even if I had any interest in making tracks like these again, I doubt I could.

These specific tracks were produced in 2013, right before the Love over Entropy project took off. I don’t consider this to be an album, as the only connecting factor between these tracks is that they were created during the same period. But there was never a bigger idea behind them, which for me makes the difference between an album and a collection of tracks.
